Naturopathic Doctor, Kim Townsend is on a mission to assist families in leading healthier, fuller and more satisfying lives through the proven power of naturopathic medicine. Dr. Kim’s ultimate objective is to investigate patient’s health concerns and design an individualized program to treat and prevent a wide variety of health issues. She is fully committed to naturopathic healthcare with a special focus on the treatment of hormonal imbalances, infertility, digestive disturbances and mental health concerns. Dr. Kim combines over 25 years of clinical experience with compassionate care to support long-term wellness at every stage of life.
Her office: Townsend Naturopathic Clinic is located in Burlington Ontario and services a wide variety of clientele ranging from areas of Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville to Niagara. She also offers virtual appointments to treat patients province-wide.

Dr. Kim is a licensed naturopathic doctor with a difference. Her knowledge and experience, combined with her empathy and the high quality of care she provides her patients, make her unique and admired by many. She is registered with the The College of Naturopaths of Ontario and holds active memberships with the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Medicine.
Dr. Kim completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Queen’s University in 1989 and her four year doctorate program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, graduating in 1998. In between blocks of study, she volunteered at a United Nations refugee camp, where she maintained the role of Mental Health Co-ordinator. While overseas, she worked with and studied the birth practices of Cambodian women. The results of her research are published in the academic text Maternity and Reproductive Health in Asian Societies. She has also had her research and articles printed in well known publications such as Flare Pregnancy Magazine.
It was during her years spent travelling and volunteering that she began to understand and embrace naturopathic medicine. She witnessed its extraordinary power first hand while in Cambodia, where herbal healers, psychiatrists, acupuncturists and counsellors all worked collectively to help treat mental health patients within the UN camp. While in Nepal, she was also fortunate to work with a traditional healer who cured her of lifelong, chronic asthma. The amazing efforts and results she observed during these travels are the true inspiration for her decision to pursue the study of naturopathy.

Our Beliefs
Dr. Kim strongly believes that integrated healthcare is essential to optimum health and achieving a positive balance of mind and body. She has worked closely with Dr. Alvin Pettle, a highly regarded OB/GYN with a focus on bio-identical hormones. His pioneering work has established a medical practice that utilizes natural hormones to help women deal with concerns that include peri-menopause, menopause, infertility and other hormone related difficulties. Dr. Kim has taken additional courses beyond her naturopathic degree to obtain her naturopathic prescribing license. This license allows her to prescribe bio-identical hormones to those patients who may benefit.
Her naturopathic clinic is a full service facility that assists patients with a wide variety of health related concerns. She offers an extensive array of lab tests to help determine the root cause of an illness and comprehensive treatment plans to promote wellbeing. From digestive disturbances and lyme disease to hormonal imbalances and mental health concerns, Dr. Kim will examine every individual factor to create specialized treatment programs that address both the symptoms and underlying issues in order to help her patients reach their optimum health.
