Welcome to Townsend Naturopathic: A Place to Begin Your Health Journey

Finding a new healthcare provider can feel like a big step, especially when you’ve been dealing with symptoms for a long time or don’t know where to begin. You may have questions about your digestion, hormones, energy or mood. Or you may simply want the time to explain what has been going on.
Welcome to Townsend Naturopathic, a naturopathic clinic in Burlington led by Dr. Kim Townsend, ND. Here, care begins with listening to your concerns, understanding your health history and discussing practical next steps together.

Get to Know Dr. Kim Townsend
Dr. Kim Townsend, ND brings more than 25 years of clinical experience to her work with patients. A graduate of Queen’s University and the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, her path to naturopathic care was shaped in part by international volunteer work, including her role as a Mental Health Coordinator at a United Nations refugee camp. There, she saw the value of healthcare providers from different disciplines working together.
That collaborative perspective continues to guide her approach today. Your symptoms matter, but so do your daily routines, nutrition, stress, medical history and goals. Dr. Kim takes the time to understand your situation and discuss a care plan that fits your needs.
What Can Naturopathic Care Look Like?
Naturopathic care starts with a conversation. Depending on your concerns, Dr. Kim may ask about sleep, digestion, nutrition, movement, stress, medications, previous testing and treatments you’ve already tried.
From there, your care plan may include nutrition or lifestyle guidance, botanical medicine, or lab testing when appropriate. Recommendations are tailored to your health history and preferences. They should also be realistic for your life, whether that means considering your work schedule, family meals, budget or other care you’re receiving.
You can continue seeing your family doctor, specialists, counsellor or other providers while working with a naturopathic doctor. Bringing a current list of your medications and supplements helps Dr. Kim consider the full picture when discussing options with you.

Concerns We Often Talk About
Patients come to Townsend Naturopathic with many different questions. Dr. Kim has a particular focus on women’s health and menopause, including concerns that arise during perimenopause. She also works with patients seeking support for digestive health, fertility and pre-conception, mental health and stress, nutrition, and Lyme disease.
You don’t need to choose a treatment before reaching out. You might have a specific diagnosis, a symptom you want to discuss or a sense that something has changed. The first step is sharing your story and exploring what kind of support may be appropriate.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Your first appointment is a chance to share what brought you in, discuss your health history and identify the concerns that matter most to you. You don’t need to have everything figured out beforehand. Whether you have a specific diagnosis or questions about symptoms you’ve been experiencing, it helps to think about what you’d like support with.
Together, you can discuss your priorities and possible next steps. Depending on your situation, these may include nutrition or lifestyle recommendations, botanical medicines and/or supplements, further assessment or a follow-up plan. You’re encouraged to ask questions about each recommendation and how it fits your goals.
The clinic is located at 3480 Fairview St., Unit 13, in Burlington, with free on-site parking. Virtual appointments are also available for patients across Ontario. You can book an appointment online or contact the clinic if you’re unsure which appointment to choose.
